A group,  Journalists for Peace in Korea peninsula (JPKP) has commended the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-In for his untiring efforts towards finding a lasting solution to the age-long political crisis in the two countries.

A statement issued by the group in Kaduna on Wednesday and signed by its chairman, Tajudeen A. Tijjani  said the action of the new president of South Korea gave hope to the whole world that peace will soon return to the area.

According to the group, the address of South Korea president in Berlin in an event by the Federal government of Germany and Korber Foundation could not have come at any other time than when the whole world has focused on the peninsula because of the aggressivemess of the North Korea leadership who has turned down all attempts to broker peace.

The group said the time has come for the leadership of North Korea to embrace peace and stop her missile war on the peninsula and South East Asia which threatens peace.

The statement also condemned the recent missile provocation by the North Korea which was very disappointing and a largely wrong decision as well as a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

While calling on the leadership of North Korea to heed the advice and repeated warnings by the International communities to follow a path towards dialogue, the statement urged president Kim Jong Un to work towards implementing the October 4th Declaration with its South Korean counterpart for a new peaceful economic model that will ensure prosperity in the peninsula.
