Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says, his administration will continue to place premium to healthcare services to the citizens.
Governor gave this assurance at the 15th Scientific Conference of Heads of Basic and Post-Basic Nursing Institutions in Nigeria held at the School of Nursing and Midwifery Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Bagudu advised the participants to come out with measures aimed at curtailing contagious diseases ravaging and killing many Nigerians.
He promised to provide support to the state branch of the Association to enable the members regulate the nursing practice to enhance professionalism. He thanked the leadership for bringing medical professionals, policy makers and traditional rulers, religious and political leaders together for effectively healthcare delivery system.
In a message to the occasion wife of the Governor, Dr. Zainab Atiku Bagudu the founder of the Medicaid Cancer represented by the wife of APC Chairman, Hajiya Sa’a Attahiru Maccido said, the foundation has screened more than ten thousand women to detect breast and cervical cancer as well as sponsored the treatment of many patients throughout the state.
Dr. Zainab appreciated the nursing institutions foe their contributions towards healthcare and also disbursed two million naira among ten patients in the state to undergo surgeries.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Wurno commended the Kebbi State Government for giving health sector the necessary support it deserved. He pledged to ensure that the school of nursing and midwifery received the desired attention from the national body.
Other speakers at the occasion were former commissioner for health Alhaji Shehu Sambawa who is a retired nursing officer and Dr. Ja’afar Augie Medical Director of Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital, who urged the members to fear Allah and be just to all manner of patients under their care.
They advised nurses to be proud of the profession because it involved compassion and care to humanity.
At the ceremony, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu together with his wife Dr. Zainab Atiku Bagudu received an award in recognition of their effort to improve the health of the populace.
