The Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, on Wednesday, announced N1,490,615 as its official rate for the 2018 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The Overseer of the board, Imam Hussaini Tsoho-Ikara, who disclosed this at a news conference in Kaduna, said the amount was approved by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
He said the package was arrived at after several computations and efforts towards making the fare reasonable, saying that the amount was about N44,615 less than that of 2017.
Tsoho-Ikara said the total payment is inclusive of Basic Traveling Allowance (BTA) of $800 like the case in 2017.
“We hope the intending pilgrims will try their best to see that they settle their payment in a few days time,’’ he said.
The overseer said the board had started processing visa for the intending pilgrims, adding that those who had performed Hajj in the last five years would have to pay a fine of 2,000 Saudi Riyal or naira equivalents as stipulated by the Saudi Government.
Tsoho-Ikara said that NAHCON had also allocated a total of 6,636 Hajj seats to the state for the 2018 pilgrimage. (NAN)
