Kaduna Angels basketball club on Thursday in Abuja thrashed the Taraba Hurricanes of Jalingo 106-35 to qualify for the final round of the 2018 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League.

Kaduna Angels were emphatic in overpowering their opponents, winning the four quarters 23-5, 30-8, 22-12 and 31-10 respectively.

Kaduna Angels, who won Group C of the Abuja qualifiers to advance to the final round in Lagos, had won all their three group matches.

In their first game on Monday they defeated Benue Princess of Makurdi 58-54, before beating the Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia 84-36 in their second game on Tuesday.

Speaking on their performance, coach Simsim Morrison of Kaduna Angels said he was glad they won their last game in emphatic fashion.

“We have now qualified for the final round in Lagos after winning all our games, and it is something to be proud of. My girls played well. They listened to instructions.

“We will now go home and prepare for the final round in Lagos,” he said.

On his part, Ahmadu Abba, the coach of Taraba Hurricanes, said he was satisfied that his players’ performance was better even if they could not win the game.

“At the end of a game, there is always a winner and a loser. It is unfortunate that we did not meet the expectations for qualification to the next round of the  league.

“But we will go back home and prepare for the next season,” he said.

The Abuja qualifiers of the 14th edition of the Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League started on Monday and will end on Thursday.
