President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected calls that he should grant Amnesty to members of the Boko Haram sect.
Reports from Maiduguri said the president who visited Borno and Yobe States today for the first time since the insurgency began said FG would not grant Amnesty to “ghosts”, an allusion to the mercurial nature of Boko Haram members.
The sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Saad recently urged the federal government to grant amnesty to the sect members.
It was late President Umaru YarAdua’s amnesty for Niger Delta militants that brought a seeming end to that crisis.
