President Goodluck Jonathan has nominated Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria.The nomination was conveyed in a letter forwarded to the Senate President, David Mark.
Justice Mukhtar will become the first female Chief Justice of the Nigeria upon confirmation.Her nomination comes ahead of the retirement of incumbent CJN Justice Dahiru Musdapher.
Jonathan also nominated two more Justices to be elevated to the apex Court.They are Kumai Bayang Akaahs (North West) and Justice Stanley Shenko Alagoa (South South) .This elevation follows the impending retirement of Hon. Justice F. F. Tabai along with Justice Musdapher.
