Health Records Board Constitutes 2 Committees To Ensure Integrity, Discipline

The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, HRORBN has announced the setting  up of two committees   to ensure  integrity and discipline among the professionals.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of HRORBN, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Mami announced the constitution of the committees during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said “in consonance with section 21(5) of the Board Enabling Law,I hereby constitute the following Committees for the purpose of maintaining integrity and discipline among members of  the profession.”  They include  the Investigating Panel Committee ; and the Professional Disciplinary Committee.

According to Alhaji Ibrahim Mami, the Investigating Panel Committee has Mr E.O Ufot as chairman.Members of the panel include Mrs.Amudat Abubakar; Mr.Samson Olatoki;Mr Garba Yauri; representative of the FMOH and a  representative of the Professional Association.

The Professional Disciplinary Committee has Mr.I.O.Akolo as Chairman,while Mr.C.O. Bakare,and Mr.Adamu Sidi will serve as members. Other members of the Committee include Mr.Ben Nwaju,Mrs. M.H. Onyemaechi; representative of the FMOH and a representative of the Professional Association.

Speaking further, the Registrar said “All appointment(s) to serve on the Committees (are) subject to the approval of the Honorable Minister of Health.”

He added that  the Committees will be charged with assisting the Board in monitoring activities such as; on-going operations;;identifying  issues suitable for professional review;gathering and evaluating information especially with regards to accreditation of institutions; ensuring prompt indexing  of trainees in the health Records Practice Programmes.

Other tasks of the committees, according to the Registrar, include: investigating all alleged cases of misbehaviour by registered professionals, investigating registered professionals without  valid or current practice license; identifying hospitals and clinics that engage unlicensed  members  to practice in part  or in full aspects of health records management practice and monitoring professionals reportedly involved in examination malpractice.

Also at the press briefing, the Registrar announced the release of the Board’s July, 2017 examination results. Giving a summary of the results, he said  there were a total of  3720 candidates out of which 3180 passed.He added that 502 had what he called references, while 38 candidates failed. Also, 8 candidates were banned  due to examination malpractice while the results of 6 candidates were withheld, the Registrar said.

He expressed his appreciation to the Ministers of Health, personnel of the Board, Professional colleagues and the general public for their cooperation.
