Some members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Funtua Zone of Katsina State under the umbrella of the Katsina Youths for Sustainable Change, (KYSC), have thrown their weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitments to internal democracy and the rejection of extension in Katsina State.
A statement signed Na’im Abdullahi, DG 2 of the KYSC said this was the consensus of members who spoke at a rally APC Funtua Zonal Mega Rally which held on Sunday 29th April at Filin Aya Public Square, Funtua.
According to the statement, speakers at the rally included a former member of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Jarmai Mahuta, former Speaker of the Funtua Local Government, Hon. Haruna Abdulrasheed Funtua, Chairman Mobile Phones Dealers Association, Alh. Yusuf Lawal and Barr. Usman Buhari Danja amongst other politicians.
“The speakers were unanimous in their insistence that internal democracy is a fine principle which avails equal opportunity to all party faithful to contest the party’s elective offices, and as such should not be circumvented,” Abdullahi said in the statement informing further that the rally was part of preparations for the APC Ward, Local Government, and State congresses scheduled to hold on May 5th, 12th and 19th, 2018 respectively.
He explained that the Zone, which is the largest in the state comprising 11 local governments produced Sen. Abu Ibrahim, Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Hadiza Bala Usman, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority), and Alhaji Samaila Isa Funtua amongs other illustrious sons and daughters of Katsina State. “Our Zone contributed six hundred thousand (600,000) votes to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 elections and we are ready to repeat the feat in 2019. To that effect, we will put up a series of events to shore up solidarity and support for the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Bello Masari in the 2019 general elections. We call on all and sundry to join hands with Funtua zone and the APC, Katsina State in its resolve to move Nigeria forward by sustaining the change mandate.
