Food Hygiene shuts Akwa-Ibom office for vision piracy

The Food Hygiene Initiative of Nigeria (FHIN), an organization that promotes health and fight against food and water borne disease in Nigeria has closed down its branch office in Akwa-Ibom state for vision piracy and other illegal activities by its state officials.

The Director General of the organisation, Dr. Jonah Nicholas Karimu disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja Thursday.

He called on the general public to desist from doing any form of business with its state official in Akwa-Ibom state.

According to him, the state director of Akwa-Ibom state had diverted the vision of the organisation by forming a similar entity called “Food and Water Safety” with a different uniform.

He called on Department of State Security (DSS) and Nigeria police Akwa-Ibom state command to seal up the office premises located at Sute 1, 2, 3 2nd floor No-19 Udi street, off Abak road close to IBom plaza Uyo township.

The DG added that FHIN disciplinary committee would communicate the security agency and the Akwa-Ibom state government on the outcome Of its  investigation for further disciplinary action.

“Information reaching us at the headquarter is that the state director in Akwa-Ibom state has diverted the vision of the organisation to his own vision called Food and Water Safety with a new uniform.

“We are calling on the general public and people of Akwa-Ibom to desist from doing any business with them and the director and his executive board have been suspended with immediate effect till further notice.

“We also call on the DSS to seal up the premises and the state ministry of environment of Akwa-Ibom state to take note of this development and desist from doing any business with them,” he said.

The affected officers includeMr Ekereka Aniete, acting state director, Margaret Udoh, Deputy State director Admin/Finance, Fatima Okegwa, Deputy state director of training, Mr Dickson Deputy state director of Monitoring and Evaluation.
