First Lady’s NGO Donates Medical Items to Bomb Blast Victims

WOMEN FOR CHANGE 039-1Women for Change and Development Initiative (W4CDI), an NGO founded by the First Lady, Dame (Dr.) Patience Jonathan, has donated a bus-load of medical supplies to victims of the recent Nyanya bomb blast to show love in this Easter season, which is the reason for the season, according to a press release by Asia Odinikpo Ogbonna, Press officer(W4CDI)

Making the donation at the National Hospital, Abuja, the National Coordinator, W4CDI, Princes Rabi Ibrahim said it was premised on the fact that their supply must have been exhausted considering the huge number of casualties they had to attend to.

The National Coordinator informed that their visit was at the instance of the First Lady who had already visited but felt that her NGO should also contribute in alleviating the sufferings of the victims.

She went on to observe that the First Lady as an advocate of peace enjoins all Nigerians in respective of religion to live in peace with one another, that it is only through peace the nation can grow, adding that the First Lady’s love for peace is why she is the President, African First Ladies Peace Mission and that it has also earned her the title: “Mama Peace ”across Africa.

WOMEN FOR CHANGE 083.jpg 2Still speaking, she appealed to the Boko Haram sect to make their grievances known so that amicable resolutions can be sort. According to her: “The wanton killing and maiming of innocent Nigerians is no longer acceptable”.

Princes Ibrahim further appreciated the medical personnel and staff of the National Hospital for their commitment and prompt attention to the blast victims which has reduced to the barest minimum the number of lives lost.

Responding, Dr. Jef Momoh, Director, Clinical Services who represented the Chief Medical Director, lauded W4CDI for their kind gesture, acknowledging that the First Lady had indeed visited.

Dr. Momoh confessed that the hospital would have been overwhelmed but for its committed staff who even had to donate blood in some cases.

While calling on other well- meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the blast victims, he prayed that it does not happen again.
