FGC Okigwe alumni fete NHRC Chair, Anselm Odinkalu

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Anselm Odinkalu will on Sunday, April 1, 2012 be hosted to a reception in Abuja by his alumni, Federal Government College Okigwe Old Students Association (FEGOCOOSA) Abuja chapter.

Also, Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi as Guest Speaker at the event will be speaking on the topic: “Education and the challenges of transformation in Nigeria.”

President of FEGOCOOSA Abuja Chapter, Engr. Okey Chikwendu said in a statement on Friday that Odinkalu, a lawyer, academic and rights activist is being honoured by his alumni in line with the principles of promoting excellence as impacted on them as students at the Federal Government College Okigwe, Imo State.

He said that Odinkalu has not only distinguished himself in his forte as a lawyer, academic and rights activist but has become a worthy ambassador of his alumni.

“Anselm (Odinkalu) is one of our brightest and showed signs that he would be a leading light of his generation in his formative days at FGC Okigwe. We believe that in honouring Anselm, we will invariably be honouring ourselves as alumni and as a group,” Chikwendu said.

Dignitaries expected to grace the event on Sunday include Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, Governor Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,  Senator Hope Uzodinma, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai and Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, among others.
