The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) 2024 supplementary budget of N288 billion has passed second reading in the Senate on Wednesday.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) 2024 supplementary budget of N288 billion has passed second reading in the Senate on Wednesday.

The Bill was sent to the Senate in a letter from President Bola Tinubu read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio at plenary on Tuesday when the lawmakers resumed from their annual recess.

Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central presented the President’s request as “A Bill for an Act to issue from the Federal Capital Territory Administration Account the total sum of N288 billion.

He said this arose from “a need to accommodate additional inflows from Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) and other revenues in the sums of N8,000,000,000.00 (Eight Billion Naira) only and N280,000,000,000.00 (Two Hundred and Eighty Billion Naira) only respectively”.

 The request was referred in Tuesday to the Committee of the Whole to report back the next legislative day (Wednesday) passage.

The Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamide, leading the debate on the general principle in the bill highlighted that the FCTA was doing a lot developmental projects.

Therefore, the bill had no problem passing second reading. 

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin who presided thanked his colleagues for their contributions.
