Elections: AIG Oyebade holds strategic meeting with CPs

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI comprising Osun, Oyo and Ondo States, AIG Leye Oyebade, mni has assured members of the public of adequate security before, during and after the rescheduled general elections.

According to a press release signed by  SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, zonal police public relations officer, Zone XI Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State, the Police boss gave this assurance Wednesday at a strategic meeting held with the three Commissioners of Police in the zone ahead of the forthcoming elections.

While directing the CPs to ensure robust security in their respective State Commands, the AIG assured of adequate protection for INEC officials, electoral materials, local and foreign observers, monitors and the electorate whom he enjoined should go out and exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation or molestation.

Furthermore, while promising that the police would be professional in their conduct, he warns that decisive actions would be taken against anyone who may want to cause violence and truncate the electoral process.
