A Presidential Election National Survey Report presented to newsmen on Tuesday has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP may garner a national average of 61% votes in the forthcoming presidential election .According to the survey,the All Progressives Congress has a national average of 37.63%.Other political parties lumped together have 1.34%.
The result of the survey was presented at a media briefing organized by the Coalition For Democracy and Cedible Election in Abuja on Tuesday.Mohammed Attah ,national coordinator of CODESE said the survey which was handled by experts engaged by the coalition.
Presenting the result of the survey Dr Yemi Oke .lecturer at the University of Lagos noted that it was just a survey and not exactly a scientific exercise.He said the survey observed that there are states where the ruling parties may actually have a tough battle from the opposition in this year’s election contrary to what happened in 2011.He cited the case of Bayelsa where General Muhammadu Buhari’s CPC scored just 691 votes.Oke said now, the opposition has obviously waxed stronger .
He gave the results of the survey from each of the six geo-political zones before reaching projection for the national average .In the north west, the survey said APC will score 56% while PDP will garner 43.14 %
In the South West, the survey said PDP will score an average of 55.83% while APC will get 44.17%.The report also said the APC will score 51.67% in the North East while PDP will score 48.33% there.
According to the CODESE survey, the PDP will score an average of 84.00% in the South East ,while APC will score 16.00%
In the South South, the Survey said PDP will score 80.17% while APC will garner an average of 19.83% of the votes.
Asked by Newsdiaryonline why the organizers did not declare that PDP will win the presidential elections, the organizers insisted the report presented was that of a survey .Several other variables could come into play before and during actual voting, they said.
