The Directorate of Youth Monitoring and Mentoring in Delta has charged youths in the state to make selfless and meaningful contributions to the growth and development of the state.
The Head of the directorate, Mr Edward Mekwunye, gave the charge in a statement issued by the agency’s Technical Officer and Media Manager, Mr Jude Chikezie, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba on Friday.
According to the statement, Mekwunye gave the charge during the “Work with Role Model/Community Service” programme organised by the directorate in the capital city.
He said the programme was designed “to inculcate the virtues of volunteerism, gratitude, diligence and positive mindset among the youths of Delta”.
Mekwunye said that when the youths imbibe the right attitude, their self worth and individual growths would result in shared prosperity for all.
He said that youths in the state would experience a fulfilled and purposeful life, when they combine good character with their expertise in various careers.
Mekwunye said that the programme was established in Ministries, Department and Agencies of government with the aim of giving back to society by engaging in community services.
