All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Alhaji Mai Buni, may retain his position at the forthcoming National Convention of the party as President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly endorsed his candidature.
A reliable source at the Presidency said on Tuesday in Abuja that Buni secured the president’s endorsement at a meeting at the Presidential Villa on Monday night.
The source said that the President on Monday evening broke his fast with some state governors at his official residence where he later requested the governors to go and work for Buni’s re-election.
“This followed a report to him that governors in the states in the North-East to which the post was zoned have returned a resounding and unanimous vote of confidence in him,’’ the source stated.
Buhari is also believed to have endorsed the candidature of Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo as APC national chairman at the June 23 national convention.
National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Friday announced his intention not to seek re-election. (NAN)
