Governor Aminu Tambuwal has nominated Alhaji Manir Dan Iya, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) ex-governorship candidate to the House of Assembly as Deputy Governor.
In a letter dated November 21, 2018, addressed to the Speaker of the House, the Governor stated that the nomination followed the vacancy created by the resignation of Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu.
“Following the vacancy created in the Office of the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State by voluntary resignation of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, I wish to nominate Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan Iya as Deputy Governor in accordance with the provisions of Section 191(3)(c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended for approval of the House of Assembly,” the letter read.
It would be recalled that Aliyu, penultimate week voluntarily resigned as Deputy Governor of the state.
