The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB), has spent N5 billion to implement the 2017/2018 UBEC /SUBEB intervention projects.
Abdullahi Muhammad, the spokesperson of the board made this known during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Muhammad said the amount was expended on construction and renovation of schools, classrooms, provision of furniture and capacity building for teachers.
The spokesperson added that between 2017 and 2019, the administration of Gov. Bala Mohammed released counterpart fund amounting to N8.5 billion.
He said the fund had been judiciously utilized in enhancing basic education.
Muhammad noted that the release of the 2020/ 2021 matching grants had since been approved.
“We will soon access the fund to start execution of numerous projects across the 20 local government areas,” he said.
NAN reports that the state government recently constructed 450 classrooms, distributed 790 magnetic boards and 18,148 pieces of furniture. (NAN)
