(Updated) A bomb explosion has hit Damaturu Park in Yobe State. Details were sketchy but a resident of the town told Newsdiaryonline that the scene is usually “heavily populated”.
Reuters said the explosion occurred specifically at “ a crowded bus station in the northeast Nigerian city of Damaturu on Sunday, causing casualties in a region that has been frequently attacked by Islamist militants”.
It reported a witness, Adamu Muhammad who said the town “descended into panic” after the bomb blast at Damaturu’s central motor park .
The attack on Damaturu came a day after Nigerian military repelled an attack on Gombe by Boko Haram terrorists on Saturday.
