Amaraizu hails victorious police taekwondo team

Ebere Amaraizu, Chairman Enugu State Taekwondo Association has hailed the “brilliant and superlative” performance of Zone 9 Police team in the just-concluded Inspector General of Police (IGP) Open Taekwondo Championship.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Team was the overall best of the championship with three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

A total of 12 police teams participated in the IGP open taekwondo championship held at the Civic Centre, Port Harcourt from July 23 to July 27.

Amaraizu, who is a member of Police Zone 9 Sports Committee, told NAN on Monday in Enugu that the team lived up to expectations.

According to him, the team’s hard work, dedication, focus and discipline has brought them to limelight and future taekwondo champions for the country.

“I must thank the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 9 for the impetus and support he gave the team that made the difference and gave them the edge for the success recorded.

“I urge them to keep the flag of taekwondo flying as more national and international championship awaits them,’’ he said.

Amaraizu noted that the rate of development of the game of taekwondo in the country was high.

“I thank God that the game of Taekwondo has gained relevance and recognition amongst people within the country.

“I must not fail to commend the organizers of the championship for putting up a successful and historic event,’’ he added.

Police Zone 9 is made up of Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo Police Commands. (NAN)
