The Adamawa state government has released its 2020 and 2021 counterpart funds for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), says Board Chairman, Dr Salihi Ateequ.
Ateequ disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Monday.
He said that the Board was now working towards getting the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja, to release its 2020 counterpart fund.
“Already Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri has put on ground the counterpart funds for 2020 and 2021.
“We are trying to put our books in order for the Abuja office to release their counterpart fund.
“With that, if everything being equal, we will have about N1.6 billion to work for action plans of 2020 and 2021”, he said.
According to him, the money will go a long way in creating more schools, renovations, provision of chairs and training of teachers.
He said that the board was doing a lot to ensure quality education across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas (NAN)
