Police arrests 22 ‘one-chance’ robbery suspects in Abuja

The Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have arrested 22 persons suspected to be ‘One-chance’ robbery syndicates in Abuja.
The Assistant commissioner of police(operations) FCT command, Valentine Olumese said the suspects were arrested within three months since it launched operation in August to curb the menace.
Mr. Olumese made the disclosure on Wednesday at the command headquarters while briefing journalists on policing activities in the FCT.
“It is my pleasure to inform you that our efforts to curb the menace of One-chance is yielding positive results”.
“You will recall that about three months ago the command created a special squad known as the Anti-one chance Squad to deal with this menace. Within the last three months, a total of twenty two (22) suspects involved in ‘One-chance’ robbery have been arrested and charged to court,” Mr. Olumese said.
The police officer noted that most of the suspects have been convicted and are currently serving varying jail terms.
Adding that the command has impounded seven operational vehicles used by the culprits in carrying out their criminal activities.
“Other exhibit recovered include: knives, victims ATM card, etc,” police said.
Newsdiaryonline.com had reported the worsening state of insecurity across the metropolitan area in FCT including the menace of One-chance robbery activities.
One chance robbery is a mode of operation carried out by criminals involving victims being robbed while conveyed in a vehicle believed to be a commercial car.
