President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered a swift and comprehensive investigation in the series of killings across institutions of higher learning in Northern Nigeria.Presidential Spokesman Reuben Abati said today that “The President has directed Security agencies to investigate the matter and get to the root because this kind of incidence, where people are called out and shot is really shocking.
Abati added :“He directed that no stone should be left unturned in the bid by the law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the mayhem are brought to book”.
At least 25 students were killed at Federal Polytechnic , Mubi, Adamawa state, Monday Night ; and several others were also killed at Adamawa State University, the School of Health Technology, Mubi and the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
While giving a shocking account of what transpired in Mubi, Adamawa Police Spokesman, Mohammed Ibrahim told Reuters ”We learned that when they (killers) came for the attack, they called out the names of some of the victims and killed them as they came out. Some they left alone, which gives us a clue that this was the work of insiders”.
