Two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists were among over a score of those of them who died as troops succeeded in repelling the terrorist attack on Shetimari in Borno State Thursday evening,Nigeria’s Defence Spokesman , Major General Chris Olukolade said in a statement on Friday.
According to Olukolade, “Over 12 rifles and 1 machine gun were captured from the terrorists group as the attack was repelled.
“Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs.
He disclosed further that troops conducting mopping up operation are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those who are on the run.
Olukolade also confirmed that “Incidents of suicide bomb attacks were also recorded in Jimeta Yola and Maiduguri yesterday evening. Details are still forthcoming”.
The defence spokesman also said “the offensive operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities, aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults.”
