Several students and teachers are feared to have been killed Monday Morning in Potiskum after a bomb explosion went off while the morning assembly was going on.
The explosion hit the assembly ground of Potiskum Senior Science Secondary school leaving many dead as others ran in various directions.
Maiduguri based blog echoesinn.blogspot.com which was among the first to break the story as it happened quoted a source thus : “It is another bad day for us today, a bomb just went off at Senior Science Secondary school Potiskum….it happened at the assembly ground , many (bodies) of students are presently on the ground in pools of blood… We are running home now “.
Last week ,a suicide bomb blast hit a procession by Shiite s in Potiskum killing and maiming several others as well.
Police Spokesman, Acting Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu reportedly confirmed that 47 persons were killed while at least, 79 others were injured in the blast.
“There was an explosion detonated by a suicide bomber. We have 47 dead and 79 injured,” Ojukwu said.
Yobe schools have come under attacks by Boko Haram at various times.The most notable was the bloody attack of Bunin Yadi college .
