Ebola: Sokoto Procures Protective Apparels, Ambulances

wamakkoAs part of emergency measures against the dreaded Ebola virus, Sokoto state government has approved the procurement of protective apparels and ambulances.

A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to Wamakko on Media, Sani Umar and issued to news men in Sokoto on Monday said that the items would cost the sum of N50 million.

“The gesture is part of measures to check the Ebola virus discovered in Lagos state,” the statement explained.

In the same vein, detection centers have been established at Gwadabawa, Tangaza and Shagari to serve the three Senatorial districts for referrals and investigation purposes.

The statement further added that Noma, Specialist and Maryam Abacha Women and Children hospitals, have been designated as screening centers for the disease.

“Government has also approved the Amanawa hospital in Dange/Shuni local government to serve as isolation camp for people identified with the virus.

The state government also directed the 23 local government councils to be ready to provide logistics to health facilities against any eventuality,

In addition, the state government was liaising with development partners on capacity building for Doctors, Nurses and other health professionals as well as meeting with traditional rulers on the prevention of Ebola disease.
