The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Zamfara Command, has urged Private Guard Companies (PGCs) to intensify intelligence gathering to compliment efforts in the fight against insecurity.This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relation Officer, Mr Ikor Oche, on Friday in Gusau.
The statement said that the state Commandant, Mr Athanasius Sparks, gave the warning during the passing out parade ceremony of batch ‘F’ PGCs trained at the state NSCDC headquarters.Sparks admonished the graduands to be good ambassadors of their companies wherever they found themselves.He also urged them to be vigilant, give useful and intelligent information to security agencies and the state to boost the fight against insecurity.
He said that the training was in line with the 2003/2007 acts of NSCDC which empowered the corps to embark on periodic workshops and training of PGCs.The commandant, therefore, urged the guards to make maximum use of all the talents and skills acquired.
The PGCs Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Makama, commended the command for the effective monitoring and supervision of the companies.Makama said that due to the periodic training and supervision, PGCs in Zamfara has became more active and up to date in discharging their duties.He urged all PGCs to collaborate with the corps in intelligence gathering and sharing.Thirty-one personnel of two PGCs, the Crown and De law Security Guards, participated in the one-week training.
