Eid-el-Kabir: Rep Zacharia felicitates with Muslims, tasks security agents on safety

A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. David Zacharias (APC-Kogi) has felicitated with Muslims as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mr Jeremiah Ocheme, Zacharia said that the occasion called for celebration and prayer for the country.
Zacharia who represents the Idah/Ibaji/Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu Federal Constituency emphasized on virtues of love, humility, peace and sacrifice as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
He called on them to share whatever resources they have with their fellow brothers and sisters regardless of religion.
He said that love and sacrifice which are pillars in Islam, remained the ultimate characteristic of the great prophet.
“While rejoicing with the Muslim brothers and sisters on this auspicious occasion of Eid el-Kabir celebration, which symbolises sacrifice and obedience, we have the obligation of praying for our nation, state and ensure that we pray for the 2019 election to be peacefully”
“On my part as a lawmaker, I will continue to pursue people-oriented legislation and initiate bills and legislative interventions that will guarantee peace and stability in the polity and the constituency in particular, as well as improve the living conditions of our people,” he said.
Zacharia called on security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property, especially in susceptible flash-points of criminality within the state.
“While we prepare for celebration, the tendency for hoodlums to unleash terror cannot be over-ruled.
“Security agents should up their games and bean their search light on flashpoints of criminality and ensure that the constituents celebrate without fear of intimidation,” he said.
He urged all religious leaders to foster peace and unity among the people ahead of the Ahead of the November 16 Kogi governorship elections. (NAN)
