As the March 16 polls for election into the Area councils offices in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT draws near, senior aide of the FCT Minister has said the People Democratic Party, PDP was prepared to prove its popularity in the Territory amidst the assemblage of other political parties.
Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister, Sen. Jibril Wowo said this when he was accosted by reporters at the FCDA Secretariat area 11 Abuja.
He also pointed out that already the attention of the PDP led administration in the FCT has been focused on development of the various critical infrastructural and social amenities needed in the rural communities of the FCT.
According to him this is the era of the Area councils for the maximal development of the towns especially as it has become an issue in the front burner tasking all policy makers to look into various ways to better the lives of the residents of the territory.
Already the policy of employment in the agricultural sector is yielding fruits with the recent flag-off the dry season farming Gwagwalada a partnership programme between the PDP led administration and the council as well as the development partners where over 70 hectares of integrated farmland is being harnessed for the economic development of the women, youth and the Gwagwalada community as well as the Territory which forms the market for the produce.
So far the projects which are on a partnership platform with development partners have created employment for over 650 women and youths in Kutunku community in Gwagwalada.
Wowo said the task ahead of the PDP is to focus in the development of the area councils and the satellite towns where the mass population who will be re-electing the party are located.
According to him the PDP is configured to deliver on transformational agenda in all aspects of life to the people of the Territory, consequently he reminded the people to take advantage of the forthcoming election to re-elect the PDP for six area councils so that the successes so far recorded would be built upon
He maintained that March 16 is an opportunity for the FCT resident to demonstrate their support for the PDP saying such electoral investment by the people will bring further development in the councils.
He said the Federal Capital City, FCC has witnessed unrivalled development in the country and this era of the Area council will not be different with the Satellite Towns Development Agency, STDA being re-engineered by the President of the Federal Republic to attend to critical and sundry issues.
