Mr Thomas Bobai, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Bwari, has urged Christians to imbibe the culture of sacrifice as demonstrated by Jesus Christ in the spirit of Easter.
Bobai said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, in commemoration of Easter.
He said that the sacrifice demonstrated by Christ was worthy of emulation and for any Christian must emulate the footsteps of ‘the Saviour’ to remain a true follower of God.
“This day reminds of the sacrifice of Jesus which God, who saw it necessary, made possible for our salvation.
“To be true followers of His word, we must live a sacrificial life and these sacrifices mean meeting the needs of others without demanding any payment for it.
“If one is actually redeemed through Jesus Christ, one must show love and demonstrate this love to everyone around them.’’
Bobai also urged those who participated in the just concluded fasting and prayers to maintain the good deeds practiced during the period.
He said that Christians must adhere to the commandments of God while reflecting the virtues of Christ every day.
“We are the light of the World; we ought to shine always and we must live holy everyday while seeing it as a lifestyle.’’
Similarly, the Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Mr Musa Dikko on his social media page congratulated Christians on the annual ceremony and advised that the lessons of Easter remain impactful in their lives.
According to Dikko, the season calls for sober reflection as the significance of the period had a lot to do with love, forgiveness and tolerance.
He enjoined resident of the Nigerians Area council to celebrate Easter in a peaceful manner and to extend the spirit of the season to all Nigerians. (NAN)
