#TrackNigeria: Mr Philip Enaberue, the Sokoto State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday urged corps members who are participating in the 2019 elections to ensure due diligence and transparency in their conduct.

Enaberue made the call at a training programme organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for volunteer corps members ahead of the forthcoming general elections in Sokoto state.

He urged them to be ready for the election challenges, noting that INEC as a body had absolute responsibility in the conduct of all elections and the corps members should be seen to complement such effort in their election duties.

The coordinator also advised corps members not to compromise the ethics of the assignment, remain neutral and apolitical while discharging their election duties as INEC adhoc staff.

According to him, any member who violates the rules or flouts the rules of engagement, will face the full wrath of the law.

He warned that the image of the scheme must not be brought to disrepute in the course of this assignment.

The coordinator said the corps had so far recorded tremendous achievements on election duties which earned it recognition from different institutions and called for its sustainability.

Enaberue reaffirmed the commitment of the management to continue to encourage the youths corps members to exhibit good conduct at all times.

“I urge you to remain neutral in the discharge of your responsibilities,’’ he said.

The NYSC state coordinator reassured the corps members of adequate security during the elections, as plans were on by relevant stakeholders, including security operatives, to ensure that.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that different aspects of the elections discussed by INEC officials during the training included the roles of election officials and security agents during the polls. (NAN)
