The youth wing of Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) in Delta state on Sunday suspended its president, Nicholas Omoko over allegation of misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.
In a statement issued by the acting President of the union, Ovie Ebireri made available to Newsdiaryonline also said a vote of no confidence was passed on him recruiting and using Oghara youths to impersonate as an executive member of UPU Youth Wing.
“He operates the account of the group as his personal account; refuses to convene monthly meetings; refuses to incorporate Udu and Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom youths’ body and confiscation of properties donated by top Urhobo female politician, among others,” it read.
The statement further alleged that a Toyota Corolla vehicle donated by the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa was converted personal use.
“He keeps the group consistently in the dark even at the face of his high handedness.”
In reaction, Omoko denied all the allegations, noting that his suspension by the UPU Youth Wing was unconstitutional and illegal.
“Issues on discipline concerning the group are handled by the National Executive Council of Urhobo Progressive Union ( UPU). The issues were not brought before NEC of UPU,” HE SAID.
