Sokoto PDP loses 3,385 members to APC

#TrackNigeria: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday lost 3,385 members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Silame and Binji local governments of Sokoto State..

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Wamakko said the defected members were received at the flag off of the campaigns in the local governments.

“In Silame,1,562 members of the PDP defected to the APC, prominent among whom were a former Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Alhaji Chika Umar Dantama, who was also a former elected Chairman in the area, as well as Alhaji Yahaya Silame, a founding member of the PDP and a former Local Government Secretary.

“They moved to the APC because of justice, fairness and equity of its leaders, as well as the tangible legacies of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko when he was the Governor of the state between 2007 and 2015.

“They lauded Senator Wamakko for sponsoring the bill that led to the approval for the establishment of the proposed Federal Polytechnic, Silame.

“In Binji, 1,823 members of the PDP moved into the APC, and promised to work assiduously to ensure the success of the party’s candidates, at all levels, during forthcoming general elections,” the statement read.

Senator Wamakkoa happily acknowledged the sustaining support and cooperation the people of the state were rendering to the party.

He added that the APC governorship candiate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto would fill the wide deficit of the provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Aliyu Sokoto also promised to introduce plausible programmes and policies aimed at providing adequate social amenities to the people of the state, if elected .

The Chairman of the Campaign council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi and the state Chairman of th party, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida assured the defectors of an equal treatment .
