Senators on Tuesday at the plenary passed vote of confidence on the leadership of Senate. The development followed a motion moved by Senator Samuel Anyanwu through a point of order and supported by 80 other Senators.
Senator Anyanwu noted with dismay the continued harassment of the Senate and Senators, the National Assembly Management and Spouses of Senators by security agencies of government.
He said the Senate is determined to continue to perform its constitutional duties and responsibilities without fear or favour.
He alleged that some selfish politicians in the country have sustained their interference in the internal affairs of the Senate by sponsoring media propaganda against the Senate and Senators.
The Senators prayed that the Senate pass a vote of confidence on Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki and the Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu and the entire Senate Leadership as presently constituted.
They also urged the Senate to call on the Nigerian Police and all other security agencies in the country not to allow themselves to be used by any person or persons to harass, intimidate or blackmail the Senate, Senators and their spouses.
The prayers were unanimously accepted by the entire Senate when it was put into voting by the Senate President.
The Deputy Senate leader Senator Bala Ibn Nallah appreciated the Senators for the confidence reposed on the leadership of the Senate
