Police Council confirms Abubakar as substantive IGP

The Police Council has confirmed the appointment of  Mohammed D Abubakar as the Inspector  General of Police.

This confirmation brings to an end anxiety over the tenure of Abubakar who has been serving as acting IG since 25 January 2012 in the aftermath of the ouster of  IG,  Hafiz Ringim.

One of the most remarkable measures taken by IGP Abubakar is the  dismantling of roadblocks.He has has also taken steps to bolster the public relations department of the Force.

But the security challenge which he inherited remains a major problem for the country.
