Fresh reports reaching Newsdiaryonline.com indicate that a plot to impeach Rivers State Governor,Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is in the offing.Knowledgeable sources said though the State House of Assembly members will be used to effect the impeachment, the some powerful forces in Abuja with links allegedly to the presidency are behind the plot.
Insiders said the arrowheads of the plot in the Rivers State House of Assembly include Okey Chinda(Obio Akpo),Martins Amaehule(Obio Akpo),Evans Bipi(Ogu Bolo),Victor Ihunwwo(PHALGA)and Kelechi Worgu (Omuma) .If things go according to plan,Okey Chinda is penciled to emerge as the new speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly.
This may be the next stage in the plot to deal with Amaechi who is accused by presidency forces of nursing a 2015 “presidential ambition”.Reports that 2015 campaign posters of Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and Amaechi have been sighted in Kaduna and Ibadan may have heightened the desperation to deal with Amaechi.Those close to Amaechi have denied his having such ambition.
Today, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, Rivers State Commissioner for Information was invited for questioning by the office of the National Security Adviser ,NSA over her press release last Friday debunking reports that Amaechi bought helicopters for his 2015 campaigns.She said the two helicopters were meant for security purpose and that even the federal government contributed some substantial amount of money to purchase them.Sources said the NSA office has accused her of breaching national security through her press release.She was still at the office of the NSA when news of this latest twist reached Newsdiaryonline.com.
In what is believed to be part of a concerted move against the governor, a court in Abuja had sacked the Rivers state Exco of the ruling PDP sympathetic to Amaechi.
