The Akwa Ibom state Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iniobong Ememobong has assured students of Ibiono Comprehensive High School in Edem Urua of Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state that he would sponsor to students the university, who performed creditable in the forthcoming Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
Disclosing this yesterday, he said the gesture was geared towards supporting the laudable efforts of Governor Udom Emmanuel in re-positioning the education sector in the state.
According to him, “WAEC examinations, which begins next week is a significant door that you must walk through with better results to get to another level of academic achievements.
“The examination you are about to write will mark a significant point of the commencement of your academic journey. I engaged these competent, tested and dedicated teachers to prepare you outside the effort your class teachers for the examination ahead because we want you to succeed.
“With all we have done, you don’t have any excuse to fail. I also had to bring professionals in different fields of endeavor to come and motivate you with their success stories. We have hope in you as the next generation of Akwa Ibom professionals and hence you cannot afford to dash this hope”
The Principal of the School, Mr Monday Udofia lauded the efforts of Ememobong for sponsoring academic programs in the college as well as his pledge to sponsor top 5 brilliant students through the University.
Mr Udofia said he notes with gratitude that although Ememobong was not from Edem Urua village, he had made several commitments towards improving the quality of learning for students in the school.
“This same Ini Ememobong had donated a Lawn Mower to the school. Last Month, he informed us of his decision to provide new uniforms to students of this schools as well as 10 exercise books for each student.” The Principal said.
In her remarks, wife of the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom, Obongawan Ofonmbuk Inyang commended Ememobong for his efforts in sowing seeds of hope for a better future in the students of the school.
She charged the students to work hard in order to succeed in the forthcoming examination.
