A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) In Akwa Ibom State, Elder Enofiok Ekerfre has said, events that preceded the emergence of Prince Uche Secondus in the just concluded People’s Democratic Party (PDP), elective National Convention held in Abuja, indicate that the party has not changed.

Ekefre  who spoke to newsmen in Uyo flayed  PDP’s  display of impunity and imposition of candidates at the convention ,

According to him, “the party has not changed from its old ways of doing things. It is the same leadership style of imposition and impunity which was responsible for the poor performance of the party in 2015 General  election which caused the party to lose the conveted seat.

“I  was one of the founding members of the party. You can see what happened at the convention, they gave themselves very bad publicity, executive show of impunity and imposition of candidates by the PDP State Governors. The party has not changed.

“They still have the same party where the governors are the ones calling the shot. The governors give second term nomination to themselves. They control delegates. The delegates are not allowed the free will to vote . You are not allowed to vote out of your conscience. That was not the dream of the founding fathers of the PDP.

“Most of us left the party when we discovered  that elected officer holder were becoming more powerful than the party. The occupants of the elected office became dictators.

“The governors and other elected office holders ensured that they impoverish the citizenry so that they can remain loyal to them instead of being loyal to the party. If they don’t give you, you don’t eat.”

The PDP has no programme for the masses; the only industry that thrives is among PDP faithful across the country is political sycophancy.

Mr Ekefre who decamped from the PDP prior to the 2015 general elections, lamented that , “the once nation part is now a regional party where governors from a particular region decided who become what.”
