Ondo Assembly partners SUBEB to improve education standard

Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun, Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, on Friday said the assembly would partner with the State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) to improve the standard of education in the state.

A statement issued by Mr Olugbenga Omole, Chairman, House Committee on Information, in Akure said that Oleyelogun disclosed this while playing host to the Chairman of SUBEB, Chief Victor Olabintan.

Oleyelogun stated that by making teaching and learning conducive and more attractive, education would reclaim its rightful place as the driver of development in the state.

He also pledged the support of the Assembly to the board at ensuring a more fruitful efforts to the benefit of the state.

Speaking, the SUBEB chairman solicited support of the House towards making his dream of transforming the primary and junior secondary schools in the state a reality.

Olabintan maintained that the proposed giant strides of SUBEB can only be achieved through counterpart funding with the Federal Government.

He said that the paperwork would be forwarded to the Assembly for approval and pleaded for support.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the assembly has pledged to collaborate with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) towards ensuring peace and security in the state.

Oloyelogun, while playing host to the state Commandant of NSCDC, Dr Hammed Abodunrin, commended officials of the corps for their efforts at ensuring peace across the country.

The speaker called for synergy among security agencies in the state.

Earlier, Abodurin had pleaded for a cordial relationship with the Assembly to facilitate an enduring peace and security across the state.

Abodunrin said the command has commenced training of teachers and pupils in primary and secondary schools in the state on security tips.

The commandant solicited the support of the Assembly towards making this year’s Civil Defence day slated for March a success. (NAN)
