The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FCT Council, has concluded plans to protest at the offices of the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, over the non-remittancesof dues and payment of arrears of federal government-owned media organisations.
In a statement in Abuja by the Secretary of Council NUJ FCT, Emmanuel Ogbeche, the union accused officials in the office of the AGF of tampering with the dues of NTA, NAN, FRCN and VON for their personal use over the past two years.
According to the statement, the decision to protest at the office of the AGF was taken after a meeting of the council and the four affected media organisations on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ogbeche stated that the protest march slated for Thursday has become the last resort after several efforts to get the AGF remit the deductions to the union failed.
He called on union members to turn out en masse to press home their demands for the payment of arrears and remittance of their withheld dues.
