The FCT council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commended the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Omo-Agege over the appointment of Yomi Odunuga, and Lara Owoeye-Wise as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, and Special Assistant on Electronic/New Media, respectively.
The Council said the appointment of the duo, whom it described as professional and accomplished journalists, shows Senator Omo-Agege’s desire for excellence in the course of his stewardship to his constituency, the senate and the nation.
The Council Chairman and leader of delegation, Emmanuel Ogbeche stated this during a congratulatory visit to the media office of the Deputy Senate President at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Monday.
He said: “It is gratifying that the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has deemed it fit to appoint as his senior media aides, Mr Yomi Odunuga, and Ms. Lara Owoeye-Wise.
“You are professional and accomplished journalists who represent the best of our profession and we have no doubt that you will acquit yourselves well in your new offices.
“Your appointment is a clear indication that the Deputy President of Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege wants a concise and honest reflection of what he does and stand for in the course of his stewardship to his constituency, the senate and the country.
Responding, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President, Yomi Odunuga, assured that the media office would be run professionally with open doors.
He also appealed to fellow journalists to remain objective and ensure balance in their reportage of the legislative arm of government.
