Vice President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has described the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPPS) Kuru, Jos, as a key driver of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.
The Vice President stated this Friday, when the management of NIPPS led by the Director General, Professor Tijjani Muhammad Bande, paid him a courtesy call in his office at the State House, Abuja.
Vice President Sambo who is also the supervising authority of NIPPS, said “with the qualitative product of the Institute our transformation Agenda will surely be achieved because it will be strengthened by what you are producing.”
Arc Sambo while expressing delight with the achievements of the institute over the years, assured that the President Jonathan led administration would ensure that the Institute succeeds in meeting its mandate.
Earlier the DG of NIPPS, Prof Tijjani Bande, expressed the appreciation of the Institute to President Jonathan and Vice President Sambo for the importance they place in the activities of the Institute. He stated that NIPPS was a critical tool for government, adding that there was no institute on the African continent that meets its standards.
Prof Bande noted that the Institute had achieved tremendous improvement in the quality and standards of researches churned out by its staff and students particularly the Senior Executive Course it runs. He said the Researches have been adjudged to be world class by both local and international stakeholders.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government for improved funding for its activities and remuneration of its staff. He stated that the Institute plans to invite the former Prime Minister of Namibia, Mr. Hage Geingob to deliver the lecture at its 2013 Annual Lecture.
Prof Bande was accompanied to the event by other top management staff of the Institute.
