Details of why embattled Senator Isa Hamma Misau, is after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris have been uncovered. Insiders confirmed that it is a case of drummers from afar beating the talking drums for the dancer nearby.
Investigations based on information pieced together from competent sources indicate that Senator Misau may not be fighting a personal war but that of his new political godfather in the Senate.
It was gathered that the Senate leadership had tried to compromise the Police top hierarchy during investigation into the alleged illegal amendment of the Senate Standing Rules that paved way for the election of President and Deputy President of the Senate. However, this move for fraternity was politely turned down as the Police insisted on following laid down rules.
With the case of false assets declaration against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki discharged by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), other demands were made that the Police considered against the overall interest of the nation and Mr President in particular.
At this stage, a furious Senate leadership was said to have decided to unleash one of their ‘’attack dogs” on the unsuspecting IGP with the intention to hit back at Mr President for what sources described as ‘intransigence’.
The mantle fell on Senator Misau, who before then was the intermediary between the Senate and the Police high command and believing that with his understanding of the system and workings of the police, the Bauchi State lawmaker got the mandate to deliver on this assignment with political dispatch.
Accordingly, insiders at the National Assembly said Senator Misau went for the kill, attempting to pull down the entire institution he once served in the same manner a member of the House of Representatives currently on suspension went after his colleagues.
To impress his principals, Senator Misau, who bore a different name as Mohammed Isa Hamma during his service years in the Police Force, went all out to say both real and imagined things to justify his assignment.
It was gathered that the Senate leadership unfortunately found out later that it made a huge mistake assigning such delicate job to a former Police officer that carries lots of baggage with him, especially considering the unfolding revelations about the Senator.
More disturbing to the Senate leadership is the revelation that Senator Misau, who was formerly known as DSP Mohammed Isa Hamma, was a serial offender in the Police whose acts of indiscipline attracted several warnings and queries.
According to documents made available to reporters, one of the queries had to do with his refusal to attend a Junior Command Course at the Police Staff College Jos and absenteeism from duty.
In several instances, Isah Hamman (Misau) was found guilty of disobedience of lawful Order without good and sufficient cause; negligence of duty; discreditable conduct prejudicial to Service discipline; and other acts of demeanour.
