A middle-aged man, Dare Adebayo, on Thursday appeared before a Lagos State high court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square, for allegedly robbing six people with dengerous weapons.
Adebayo is facing a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecuctor, Mr A.N. Adetokunbo, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on April 3, 2019, at No. 16A, Holy Cross Powerline St., Ejigbo, Lagos.
Adetokunbo said that the defendant armed himself with a gun, a cutlass and an axe, and robbed six people of phones, laptops, money and other valuables.
He said that the defendant robbed one Mr Kenneth Oyederin of a HP laptop worth N130,000, Infinix phone worth N58,000, two Tecno phones valued at N34,000, a wristwatch and N50,000.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant robbed one Mr Alimi Ramoni of a HP laptop, Samsung phone, Tecno phone, wedding rings and N90,000.
He added that the defendant robbed one Mrs Felicia Akuka of two phones and N30,000.
The prosecutor also said that defendant robbed one Mrs Ifeoma Ozimoke of a phone and N170,000, adding that he robbed one Mr Emeka Olumeri of three Tecno phones worth N52,000, a wristwatch and N12,000.
He said thag the alleged offences contravened Sections 299 and 297 (2) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Defence counsel, Mr Tunde Abiode, prayed the court to grant his client bail on health grounds, saying that he was a tuberculosis patient.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya, however, refused to grant the bail on grounds that there was no medical document before the court about his ill-health.
Adesanya adjourned the case until Feb. 3, 2022 for trial. (NAN)
