A political Pressure group in Lagos State, Save Lagos Group(SLG) has rooted for the immediate past Minister of State for Defence,Senator Musiliu Obanikoro to be the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 28th, 2015 gubernatorial election in the State.
This was contained in a statement by the SLG’s Coordinator, Mallam Sulaiman Alimi against the background on of the jostle for the Party(PDP) .The statement maintained that only Senator Obanikoro has integrity and Wherewithal to take over the mantle of government from the incumbent governor of the State.
Mallam Alimi disclosed that PDP in the state should look at the credibility of candidature of Obanikoro who is a former Nigerian Ambassador to Republic of Ghana, considering the task ahead, which is to give the party a landslide victory in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
SLG boss therefore called on the good people of Lagos State, stakeholders and genuine members of the party in the state to rally round and support the aspiration of Obanikoro to become the next governor of the state, adding that former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has the credentials to pilot the affairs of the state in a right direction better than the way and manner the incumbent governor is running ‘our great State in the second term’.
He said: “Governance of Lagos State at this crucial moment is beyond propaganda and deceit as well as individuals’ imposture of the highest order with culture of impunity and sycophancy at the expense of hapless people of the state who believe that change is an instrument of equity, fairness, accountability and good governance that are bedrock of functional democracy”
He further stressed that if Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are really serious and want to govern the state from May 29th,2015,the Party should ensure that credible, acceptable and marketable candidate like Senator Musiliu Obanikoro emerges from their folds as Party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming Governorship election in Lagos State.
Alimi however, applauded Obanikoro for showing interest to contest the governorship election and described him(Obanikoro) as tested,trusted and reliable leader that fit to rule the State at this critical moment of its progress,growth and development.
