The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the various social security schemes embarked upon by his government, especially the conditional cash transfer.

The party gave the commendation in a statement on Wednesday after a stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat in Ilorin.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the statement was signed by APC Vice chairman, Kwara North; Chief Theophilus Oyebiyi, Legal Adviser; Ladi Mustapha and Alhaji Abdulfatai Akorede.

“The meeting holistically reviewed recent developments in our party and resolved to urge the Federal Government to redouble its efforts in securing lives and properties, and also improve the socio-economic conditions of the citizens.

“We urge all members to continue to be steadfast in their support for the All Progressives Congress and its government at all levels,” the party stated.

According to the statement, the meeting condemned the partisan posture of the National Caretaker Committee in handling the crisis rocking the party in Kwara.

It added that the committee’s partisanship was evident in the its favorable disposition to one tendency as against the interest of the three other tendencies that worked for the 100 per cent success recorded by the party in the state in the 2019 general elections.

“On the chairmanship of the caretaker committee of the party at the state level, we affirm that Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) remains the state chairman.

“We as loyal party members will not submit to any action that is at variance with the constitution of the party,” continued the statement.

It also said the meeting reviewed the ongoing membership revalidation and registration exercise in Kwara State.

“It urged that the exercise be cancelled because it has not substantially complied with the constitution of the party and the rules and regulations set by the caretaker committee to guide the exercise.

“The meeting also noted the deliberate exclusion of majority of party leaders and stakeholders by Governor AbdulRazaq in the running of the affairs of the state government. We cannot defend what we are not part of.

“Finally, the meeting urged all our teeming supporters to be calm, law abiding and be steadfast in their support for the party in spite of the  deliberate provocation by agents of the State government,” the statement noted. (NAN)
