#TrackNigeria: The Transition Committee to ensure a smooth handing over by the outgoing Kuje Area Council administration under the leadership Mr Abdullahi Galadima, has decried a hooping sum of N1 billion debt left behind in the council.
The Chairman of the transition committee, Mr Abdullahi Sabo (Snr) disclosed this to newsmen during the presentation of the committees report to the new Chairman elect, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo in Kuje on Saturday.
It could be recalled the Kuje chairman elect had on April 9, inaugurated a 17-member committee to work out processes that would usher in his administration.
The transition committee chairman lamented that the debt left behind by the outgoing administration was pathetic and not in the interest of the incoming administration to function properly.
“Efforts to access some documents from the Council was not possible and the committee was informed that the documents are classified and can only be accessed by EFCC, ICPC and Auditor General of the Federation.
“We discovered that the outgoing administration is leaving behind a debt of over N1 billion and we were informed that details of some documents are contained in the handover note.
“It is also worthy of note that Local Education Authority (LEA) Kuje is in shambles as a result of mal-administration and inadequate employment of teachers.
“If the situation is allowed to continue, I am afraid the future of our dear children will be jeopardized and the society will be in for it as education is the life wire of every society,” he said.
