The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in Saudi Arabia with the Coalition Forces supporting legitimacy in Yemen and the Saudi Ministry of Education on Sunday launched “Together for Education in Yemen” program to support education sector in Yemen.
This is contained in a press release by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), issued by the Center for International Communication (CIC), Ministry of Media, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and made available to Newsdiaryonline Sunday.
“Today, I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Saudi-led Coalition Joint Forces for their role in supporting King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), UN and international organizations in their humanitarian work.
“This positive role contributed in facilitating the access of humanitarian aid into Yemen through land, sea and air, as well as ports of entry in Yemen. This ensures the keenness of Saudi Arabia and the Coalition countries to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
“Under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and in the presence of Commander of the Saudi-led Coalition Joint Forces and the participation of Your Excellencies, KSrelief is pleased to launch today a joint qualitative program between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, ‘Together for Education in Yemen‘ implemented by KSrelief with the participation of Saudi-led Coalition Joint Forces and Saudi Ministry of Education.
“The program includes the provision of more than 50,000 desks and chairs that will serve students in 14 governorates which are: Abyan, Al Bayda, Al Hudaydah, Al Mahrha, Aden, Mukalla of Hadramawt, Seiyun of Hadramawt, Shabwah, Lahij, Ma’rib, Socotra, Dhale, Al Jawf and Taiz,” Dr. Al Rabeeah said in his speech.
He explained that “Under this program, several educational initiatives and projects are to be implemented to support the educational process in Yemen. I would like to pay tribute to the important role played by the Yemeni Ministry of Education, to cooperate in the dissemination of these projects in Yemeni regions, as well as the active role of the Ministry of Information in Yemen.
“Affirming the Kingdom’s pioneering role in supporting Yemen and its people, several humanitarian, relief and development projects were implemented as well as supporting the economy in Yemen with a total cost of $11.88 billion. KSrelief has also implemented 330 projects in all regions of Yemen at a total cost of more than $2 billion. In addition, education in Yemen received great attention from KSrelief, where many projects have already been implemented, with an amount of more than $65,291,000.
“KSrelief has also undertaken several educational projects in Syria, Somalia and for the Rohingya refugees in Malaysia, Bangladesh and other regions of the world, that follows the belief of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the educational process for all affected people which plays an important part of humanitarian and relief work.
“The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) highly appreciates the role of the Coalition Joint Forces and the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in which it seeks to see the students of Yemen return to the classrooms and provide them with security, peace and stability for the development of a prosperous future built by the Yemeni hands,” he stated.
Dr. Al Rabeeah concluded that, “We ask God for the stability and security of Yemen and we thank you for your sincere efforts and contributions to achieve a peaceful process in Yemen.”
The Minister of Education of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh expressed the Ministry’s pride in partnering with KSrelief in providing every possibility to support the education in Yemen.
“We support education through providing grants to Yemeni students in Saudi universities and Yemeni students enrolled in public schools in the Kingdom, or providing in kind assistance; wishing the Yemeni youth will build a prosperous future,” he stated.
Dr. Al Al-Sheikh praised KSrelief, its employees, its volunteers, and those who believe in its mission and humanitarian project that covered all parts of the world; Yemen had the largest number of projects.
He said he appreciated the achievements of the Center and its leading role in relief and support operations for in need families, mostly the various education projects.
“We are working in accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, who are keen to provide every support to continue the educational process and provide the appropriate environment for it in Yemen,” he added.
The Minister of Education of Yemen, Dr. Abdullah Lemmles praised the efforts of the Center in supporting the Yemeni people in various sectors, including the educational sector.
He pointed out that KSrelief is the humanitarian arm that overcame the difficulties facing the educational process in Yemen by contributing to printing textbooks and providing 50,000 desks and chairs to 14 Yemeni governorates that constitute 85% of the country’s geographical area.
The launch ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Commander of the Saudi-led Coalition Joint Forces operating in Yemen and Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Education of Saudi Arabia.
Others are Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor – Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief; Dr. Abdullah Lemmles, the Minister of Education of Yemen; Muammar Al Iryani, the Minister of Information of Yemen; and Abed Araqib Fateh, Yemen’s Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the High Relief Committee.
