The Kebbi State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development has begun the installations of 40 newly acquired transformers as directed by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari says, the Commissioner in charge of the ministry Arc. Bala Sani Kangiwa announced this at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
Arc. Bala Sani Kangiwa said the total cost of the transformers was about one hundred and fifty million naira. While another eleven Million Naira has been released for the installation and labour cost of the transformers.
He announced that, already 500KVA capacity of the new transformers have been installed at Hajiya Turai Yaradua General Hospital Zauro, Ambursa, Haliru Abdu Secretary in Birnin Kebbi while two were installed in Jega to service the township.
Others areas to be installed are Gamji Gulumbe, Birnin Kebbi Local Government, Zara Birni, Gumbin Kure, Kuberi and Giwa-Tazo in Maiyama local government, Kalgo as well as in Nakengan and Kwali-Kwali in Dandi local government.
The other places to enjoy the new transformers are Gwabaren Kasawa and Alwasa in Argungu local government, general hospital Bagidu, Jabaka town, and Gudale in Augie local government area, Nasara in Aliero town, Jiga Birni and Gumbin Dari in Aliero local government as well as Arewa Local Government Secretariat, Kangiwa.
Similarly, the transformers would be installed in Haliru Abdu Secretariat Birnin-Kebbi, Gandun Kaya at Illear Yari Birnin Kebbi, Adamu Aliero Estate Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State House of Assembly Complex, Birnin Kebbi, Bayan Tasha Model Primary School, Birnin Kebbi behind prison club Birnin Kebbi, Tambuwal Quarters Gesse Phase I, Birnin Kebbi, Ministry of High Education and Secretariat Birnin Kebbi as well as in Kainji sub-station and Yauri Water Works in Yauri Local Government.
In addition, 300KVA transformers would be installed in Jaffeji town and Hodi Model Primary School in Arewa Local Government.
Bamungade Town in Jega Local Government, Unguwar Zaku/Unguwar Gujiya in Argungu Local Government, Amare town and Gangare in Kalgo local government, while a transformer would also be installed at Kebbi Radio.
The Commissioner announced that, apart from the 40 new transformers under installation 30 have already been installed bringing the number to 70.
Arc. Bala Sani Kangiwa said the action is in line with the policy thrust of the Bagudu administration to provide uninterrupted power supply to all towns and villages in Kebbi state.
The Commissioner for lands and housing, Abubakar Chika Ladan was present at the news briefing by the commissioner for water resources and rural development.
