The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Mohammed Yakubu, has assured of effective interface between the government and people to enhance socio-economic development of the state.

Yakubu, who gave the assurance when he assumed duties in the ministry in Lafia on Thursday, said that regular interactions with the people would pave way for sustainable development.

The information commissioner also said that for the ministry to achieve meaningful success and development there was need to place collective interest above personal one.

He therefore tasked personnel of the ministry to cooperate with him in his resolve to work in line with the blue print of the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Sule, tagged “Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS)” and other core mandate of the ministry.

”I want to assure you of an open door policy where we can cross-fertilise ideas, even welcome constructive criticism. We should not allow personal interest to interfere with our work, we should rather uphold unity of purpose.

“I want all hands on deck to commit ourselves to the core mandate of the ministry and the NEDS as envisioned by the state as well as other areas of the ministry’s responsibilities to achieve mega success,” Yakubu said.

The commissioner thanked the governor for finding him worthy to serve in his cabinet and assured of his readiness to work with journalists to promote policies and programmes of the administration.

Handing over the affairs of the ministry to the new commissioner, Mr Yusuf Musa, the Permanent Secretary, assured Yakubu of the full support of the workers for him to succeed in office.
